What I Once Called Love

I once believed love had to hurt

to matter.

That gentleness meant boredom.

That calm meant indifference.

I didn’t know peace could feel foreign

when you’re used to surviving storms.

Now I understand:

love is not meant to destabilize you.

It is meant to steady you.
