Devotion Worn Like a Bruise

Devotion doesn’t always look like worship.

Sometimes it looks like a mark—

dark, quiet, lingering

on the place where his touch

pressed too close to your truth.

It isn’t pain.

Not really.

It’s the memory of being seen

so deeply it left a trace.

A bruise you don’t hide

because it feels like belonging.

A bruise that reminds you

someone finally cared enough

to stay long enough

to leave one.
